Product Description
The real story of the Republican vice presidential nominee and her collision with the elite liberal media

As the second woman ever nominated as a candidate for vice president, Alaska governor Sarah Palin became an instant phenomenon. Americans were enthralled by a woman with charm, ambition, natural political talent, and a passion for conservative values.

But the fascination of ordinary people quickly drew an unprecedented attack from the media elite and liberal activists. Far beyond the normal bounds of tough questions and challenges, Palin's enemies decided that nothing was too personal to attack-including her marriage, her children, her faith, and her wardrobe. The media distorted Palin's positions and beliefs beyond recognition. And almost every word out of her mouth was spun as a "flub."

Weekly Standard writer Matthew Continetti reveals the true story of the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee and her persecution by the elites who tried to hide their bias with solemn declarations of objectivity. Continetti offers fresh examples of malicious spin and deceit and shows how liberal snobbery has become a driving force in American politics.

Palin's ordeal has become a rallying cry for the GOP in the Obama era. This perceptive book is a must-read for conservatives who want to understand what really happened-and how to avoid a repeat.

5 out of 5 stars The Feral Beast: The Media Go Wild   November 14, 2009

In the prologue of this book, the author includes a very powerful quote said a full year before Sarah Palin came on the national scene:

"Today's media, more than ever before, hunts in a pack. In these modes it is like a feral beast, just tearing people and reputations to bits. But no one dares miss out."--Tony Blair, June 12, 2007.

Continetti then goes on to show how this "feral beast" of the media hunted down its new prey: Sarah Palin. He does an excellent job of documenting and debunking the lies and smears the media perpetrated against her.

Palin supporters will most likely recognize the top lies such as: Trig not being her son, her banning books, being a Buchanan supporter, or a member of the Alaskan Independence Party, and others. What may surprise and shock them (and any fair minded person) is WHO published the lies! While many may have started on extreme liberal blog sites, by hate-fueled individuals, the real tragedy is that they were introduced to main stream Americans by powerful news outlets and journalists that many Americans, including myself, trusted.

The main chapters are:

1) The Golden Ticket: When John Met Sarah
2) The Feral Beast: The Media Goes Wild
3) The Village and the City: There's No Place Like Home
4) The Ties That Bind: The Blistering Assaults on Palin's Family
5) Amazing Disgrace: How the Press Went After Palin's Faith
6) Sex and Sarah Palin: The Furious Battle over the Governor's Gender
7) The Classless Media: The Elite's Condescending Attitude Toward Ordinary Americans
8) Sarah's Choice: What's Next for Palin and her Party?

This book is a powerful wakeup call to any fair minded person. It clearly documents that "truth no longer mattered" to many in the media when it came to Sarah Palin.

My hope had been that the media would see the dangerous path they have taken, and go back to honest reporting. Unfortunately, as Sarah's own book is about to be released it looks like we're in for Round 2.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic book, soon to be trashed by left-wing ideologues everywhere   November 14, 2009

This book brilliantly takes apart and disproves the vicious smears that the leftist media used to attack Palin during the 2008 campaign. The book makes an excellent and irrefutable case that the media's politically-motivated portrayal of Palin, which was almost inversely proportional to the extraordinary efforts made to ignore and explain away any negative information about Barrack Obama, was unprecedented and bore almost no relation to the truth. Unfortunately, more than a year after the election, the campaign against Palin continues unabated. Today's so-called "fact-checking" article by the Associated Press is so ridiculous that it almost reads as a parody. For example, the eleven (!) contributors to the article take on the role of mind-readers, challenging Palin's claim that she was driven by "purpose" instead of "ambition" by characterizing her book as having "all the characteristics of a pre-campaign manifesto." Hopefully, Continetti's book will help to set the record straight about who the real Sarah Palin is.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Read !!!   November 24, 2009

Mr. Continetti has written a compelling, thoroughly researched book that dispels the myriad of Sarah Palin 'urban legends' that abound.

During the election of 2008, mainstream media routinely revealed their obsession with some of the candidates - be it cult-like worship for Obama, or rabid hatred for Sarah Palin. In either case it was a huge disservice to the electorate, and besmirched the profession of journalism.

Mr. Continetti's book, coupled with Bernie Goldberg's "Slobbering Love Affair with Obama" should be required reading for all aspiring journalists. Please - please learn from your history, quash this insidious trend, and restore integrity to what has been, and could again be, an honorable career path.

An honest and factual review of how the media and liberal left were obsessed with defaming Sarah Palin.

An excellent companion piece to Sarah Palin's "Going Rogue", Matthew Continetti's book is succinct and admirably readable. Despite the illiteracy, "as per" (which appears on page 30), Continetti's "The Persecution of Sarah Palin" presents a devastating and unanswerable case against the media and their fellow flatulent elitists for treating Mrs. Palin with gross unfairness and disturbingly pathological viciousness.

The examples are innumerable and well documented. Page 123: "The 'Time' magazine writer Amy Sullivan described this phrase ['Bible-believing Christian'] as a 'code phrase'. For what? A Christian who believes in the Bible?" And on page 126, Continetti points to the media elite's manifest double standard: "How could it be dishonorable to inform people about the Reverend Wright's noxious politics yet also a reporter's solemn duty to poke and prod at Palin's entire religious history?" In general, Continetti is quite successful in pointing out that Democratic interest groups embody all the attributes they lay at the well-shod feet of Mrs. Palin -- sectarian, sanctimonious, unyielding, and imperious (page 127).

Millions know that Mrs. Palin is as able as she is beautiful and charismatic, and that's saying quite a lot. Let us therefore rally around her and put an end to rule by limp-wristed and fat-headed elitists.
